Awakening the Hidden Storyteller

Here is one of the books I enjoy thoroughly.

ISBN 0-87773-5999-9

Published in 1991 by Shambhala Publications; written by Robin Moore -- it's truly a wonder.

Awakening the Hidden Storyteller

Filled with experiential moments, "it's a guidebook to the landscape of the imagination."

Before I knew anyone in the storytelling community, I knew this book.  And loved it.

It speaks of some of "the storyteller's tool kit" -- inner tools (memory, imagination, and visualization); outer tools (voice, gesture, movement); moves into locating, selecting, and preparing story sources; and offers nuggets, nudgings and encouragements into using these skills from family-centered story activities outward.

No matter how you want to participate in storytelling -- listening, telling, or everything inbetween ... try out this book.  Search out-of-print places, if necessary.  It's worth it.
